Following our Gold Award win in the Business Events Venue category at the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2024, the Anderton Centre was automatically entered into the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence — a highly competitive, national-level celebration of the very best tourism and hospitality businesses in the country.

We’re proud to announce that we ranked in the top five business events venues in the whole of England.
To put that into perspective: with 25 eligible regional winners in our category and an estimated 100+ businesses applying nationally, placing in the top five is no small feat — it’s a huge achievement and one that everyone connected with the Anderton Centre should take immense pride in.

The expert judging panel recognised the Anderton Centre’s unique approach to business events, especially when compared to conventional MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) venues. Highlights of the feedback include:

With 20% of our team identifying as neurodiverse, inclusive design throughout the site, and a commitment to diversity in recruitment and guest experience, the Centre was awarded an outstanding 9/10 for accessibility.
✅ Sustainability at the Core
Our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint — including biomass heating, a dedicated carbon reduction plan, and future ambitions for wind and solar energy — earned us another 9/10.
✅ A Refreshing Alternative for Businesses
Judges praised our stunning outdoor setting, innovative team building opportunities, and authentic, personalised customer service.
✅ Strong Website and Investment in Facilities
Our new video content, upgraded facilities, and a genuine desire to provide an inclusive, memorable guest experience didn’t go unnoticed.
A National Achievement for Lancashire
Being named among the top five business event venues in England is not just a win for us — it’s a win for Lancashire. The Anderton Centre stands proudly alongside major national names such as Keele University Events, Jodrell Bank, and The Glasshouse International Centre for Music.
This recognition is proof that innovative, inclusive, and community-rooted venues in the North West can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the country.
