Royal Yachting Association
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Dinghy Sailing Courses offer a structured and comprehensive pathway for individuals eager to master the art of dinghy sailing. These courses cater to both beginners and experienced sailors, providing a progressive learning experience to enhance sailing skills and knowledge.

RYA Level 1: RYA Level 1 is the starting point for beginners with little to no sailing experience. This course introduces participants to the fundamental concepts of dinghy sailing. Students will learn the basics of boat handling, sail control, and essential safety procedures. By the end of the course, participants will be able to sail confidently in light winds under the supervision of an instructor.

RYA Level 2: Building upon the skills learned in Level 1, RYA Level 2 focuses on further developing sailing techniques and knowledge. Participants will refine their boat handling abilities, learn to sail independently, and gain a deeper understanding of sailing theory. By the end of this course, sailors should be competent in making decisions and handling small dinghies in moderate conditions.

Seamanship Skills: The Seamanship Skills course is designed to enhance participants' confidence and competence in sailing independently in a wider range of conditions. Sailors will learn more advanced boat handling techniques, such as recovering a man overboard, anchoring, and sailing backwards. This course aims to foster self-reliance and prepare sailors for more challenging sailing situations.

Sailing with Spinnakers: Sailing with Spinnakers is an optional course that introduces sailors to using spinnaker sails. Participants will learn how to rig, hoist, and control spinnakers, which are specialized sails used to harness downwind winds effectively. This course provides a new dimension to sailing, allowing participants to explore different sail configurations and sail downwind more efficiently.

Stand Up Paddleboarding
The "Learn to Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP)" course at the Anderton Centre offers a fantastic opportunity for beginners to discover the joy of stand-up paddleboarding. This course is designed to provide participants with a fun and supportive learning experience in a beautiful and safe environment.

First Aid
The Rescue Emergency Care (REC) First Aid Course is a comprehensive and practical training program designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge to effectively respond to emergency situations. This course is tailored to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts, adventure professionals, and those working in remote or challenging environments where traditional first aid resources may be limited.
During the REC First Aid Course, participants will learn a wide range of critical first aid techniques, including assessing and managing injuries, and providing immediate care for wounds, burns, fractures, and other medical emergencies. The curriculum covers CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training, which are crucial skills for saving lives in case of cardiac arrest.
One of the key focuses of this course is improvisation and resourcefulness, teaching participants how to use available materials and tools to create improvised medical aids in situations where conventional medical supplies are not readily available. This makes the REC First Aid Course particularly valuable for individuals venturing into remote or wilderness areas.

Snowsports Course Organiser

Leadership of skiing and snowboarding groups on the mountains in alpine resorts is a challenging but highly rewarding activity.
The Snowsports Course Organiser (SCO) training is designed to give leaders confidence to organise a safe, successful and enjoyable snowsports trip. It is a one day course, covering all aspects of the safe organisation and management of a school snowsports trip.
The course is certified by attendance and it is now a requirement for the lead teacher on the holiday by most local authorities before they will grant permission for the trip to take place.
