Paddlesports is the collective name for canoeing and kayaking. We run a variety of courses, from fun, introductory sessions to British Canoe Union (BCU) awards and team development, all run by experienced BCU coaches. Canoes are open topped craft and carry one or two people, ideal for promoting team work and communication. Kayaks are closed cockpit craft that take one person. Typical introductory sessions consist of instruction in basic paddle strokes as well as team games.

Canoeing takes place on our private 2km reservoir which provides a relatively sheltered open water environment for beginners. The Canadian canoes used are very stable and accommodate up to 3 children in each canoe. Our qualified group leader will take charge of the group, assisting with individual coaching tips throughout.

Buoyancy aids, canoe helmets and other clothing appropriate to weather conditions are worn throughout which can include waterproofs, thick fleeces and wellies. Most of which can be borrowed from the Centre free of charge
